Book Review: Prepped to “Get the Guy”
At the suggestion of few girlfriends, I recently read “Get the Guy” by Matthew Hussey. For those who love reality TV shows, he was the dating guru on NBC’s “Ready for Love” (you probably remember it as the show that featured Eva Longoria). He’s super charming on TV, so I thought, hey, I can use all the help, so why not. I’m a single thirty-something chick, who jokes that if I wait long enough, the divorces will happen, and tada, I’m the desired, untainted hot commodity with the halo of fresh meat. But why wait if I can get some tips and turn odds into my favor now?
So, the book. It was actually good. He reminds us of logical things we probably already know, but he wraps it in a quick read in a very supportive and charismatic tone. It’s divided into 3 sections — Find the Guy, Get the Guy, and Keep the Guy. Here’s my summary:
- Find the guy — Talk to a lot of people. Go to social events (even if it’s boring married/baby ones), flirt.
- Get the guy — Be hot. Don’t be too easy, too available, too serious, too negative.
- Keep the guy — Keep having sex.
For you single ladies, I think you should buy and give it a quick skim. It’s only $10 and I feel empowered. Too bad I’m still sitting in front of my computer in my PJs.
